# Install Odoo Helper for PyCharm

Install the plugin from the JetBrains Marketplace inside PyCharm, or from a file you download from the Marketplace website. The plugin is listed as **Cybrosys Assista: Odoo Helper**.

## Prerequisites

* PyCharm Professional or Community Edition, 2023.1 or later.
* An Odoo development environment.

## Install from the Marketplace

1. Open PyCharm and go to **Settings** (or **Preferences** on macOS) > **Plugins**.
2. Select the **Marketplace** tab and search for `Cybrosys Assista`.
3. Select **Install**.
4. Restart PyCharm when prompted.
5. Let indexing finish before you continue.

## Install from a file

Use this method if the plugin does not appear in the Marketplace tab, for example in an EAP build.

1. Open the [plugin page](https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/27635-cybrosys-assista-odoo-helper) on the JetBrains Marketplace.
2. Open the **Versions** tab and select **Download** next to the version you want.
3. In PyCharm, go to **Settings** > **Plugins**.
4. Select the gear icon and choose **Install Plugin from Disk...**.
5. Select the downloaded file and select **OK**.
6. Restart PyCharm when prompted.
7. Let indexing finish before you continue.

## Verify the installation

1. Open a Python file in your Odoo project and type `odoo`. A list of snippets appears.
2. Right-click a folder in the project view and confirm that **Odoo Developer Tools** is in the menu.

## Tips and limits

* The plugin may not be available in PyCharm EAP (Early Access Program) builds. If you cannot find it in the Marketplace tab, install it from a file or use a stable PyCharm release.
* If something looks wrong after installing, check that your PyCharm version meets the prerequisites. Then choose **File** > **Invalidate Caches**, select the checkboxes in the dialog and choose **Invalidate and Restart**. PyCharm clears its caches and restarts.
* Check the plugin page for the PyCharm versions it supports.
