# Chats and sharing

Every conversation is saved to your account, so you can come back to it, continue it or share it.

## What you can do

* Start a new chat, and search your earlier chats.
* Pin, rename or delete a chat.
* Share a chat with a read-only link, and revoke the link later.
* Get a desktop notification when an answer finishes while you are in another tab.
* Work with several Odoo servers, each with its own conversations.

## Your chats

The sidebar lists your chats, grouped by date. Select **New chat** to start a new one.

| Action | How |
| :--- | :--- |
| Search | Select the search icon ("Search chats"), then type in "Search chats...". The messages "No chats found" and "No conversations" show an empty result |
| Pin | Open the **Options** menu on a chat and select **Pin**. Select **Unpin** to undo it |
| Rename | Open the **Options** menu and select **Rename** |
| Delete | Open the **Options** menu and select **Delete**, or use **Delete Chat** in the top bar menu. A confirmation appears first |
| Load older chats | Select **Load more chats** |
| Collapse the sidebar | Select **Collapse sidebar** |

The sidebar also has a **Chats / Reports** toggle. **Reports** lists your saved [reports](/assista-x/reports/).

The user menu at the bottom of the sidebar has **Settings**, **Homepage** and **Sign Out**. Administrators also see **Admin Dashboard**.

### Each chat is tied to a server

A chat belongs to the Odoo server you chose when you started it. You can keep separate conversations for production, staging or client servers. Chat titles are generated for you. The Analytical mode setting and the **Session settings** switches are saved per chat.

## Share a chat

You can share a conversation with someone who does not have an Assista X account.

1. Open the chat and select **Share Chat** in the top bar menu.
2. Read the note: "Anyone with the link can view this conversation in read-only mode."
3. Select **Generate Link**.
4. Select **Copy** to copy the link, or pick a service under **Share via** (for example WhatsApp or X).

Once shared, the menu item reads **Shared**. The window says "This chat is publicly shared. Anyone with the link can view it." To stop sharing, select **Revoke Access**. A failure shows "Failed to generate share link" or "Failed to revoke share".

> **Warning.**
>
> Anyone who has the link can read the conversation, including the data in the answers. Share only chats that are fine for others to see, and revoke the link when you are done.

## Notifications

Select the bell icon (**Enable Notifications**) in the top bar to be told when an answer is ready while you are in another tab or window. Your browser asks for permission first. You see "Notifications enabled successfully", or "Notification permission denied" if you decline, or "This browser does not support desktop notification". Select the bell again (**Disable Notifications**) to turn them off.

## Servers and companies

The server button in the top bar opens a menu for the active server with a **Companies** list for multi-company databases, **Refresh Locale** and **Edit Server**. See [Connect your Odoo server](/assista-x/connect-odoo/#several-servers-and-companies).

## Other top bar controls

* **Light Mode** / **Dark Mode** switches the theme. You can also choose **System**, **Light** or **Dark** in **Settings > Theme**.
* **Contact Us** opens a form to send a message to the team.

## Data kept

Your conversation history is saved to your account. See [Security and privacy](/assista-x/security-and-privacy/#retention) for how long it is kept.
